Jack London Square Shuttle / Coming Soon

The City of Oakland has secured $1 million in funding to jumpstart a shuttle service between Uptown and Jack London Square — two vital and emerging neighborhoods where new restaurants, galleries and offices are opening.

The proposed shuttle will run along Broadway from the waterfront to West Grand Avenue and then make a loop around to the Uptown district along Telegraph Avenue. The main concept behind the shuttle is for people who work downtown to visit other neighborhoods and to encourage more people to commute via the ferry that lands at Jack London Square, said Zach Seal, project manager for Oakland’s Waterfront-Uptown Shuttle.

In the long term, city officials envision a streetcar that would run along Broadway, but in the meantime, the shuttle would be run with small buses. Service could start as early as six months from now and would be operated by AC Transit.  Shuttle service will run from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. every 10 minutes during peak times or every 15 minutes during non-peak times.
